Action Affinity: Revelation

One of the magical affinities that are used by characters bearing wands and magical weapons is the action affinity called "revelation". The revelation affinity makes visible that which isn't and hides that which you can see.

Overview

You can use your imagination and knowledge of science to invent new and interesting ways that "revelation" may work, but for the most part you can break down this affinity into the following uses:

  • Sneaking - You could move quietly without being noticed
  • Hiding - You could make yourself, your allies, and various objects invisible
  • Revelation - You could uncover hidden creatures and objects
  • Repair - You could fix broken objects or reassemble collapsed bookshelves
  • Identification - You could unlock the full potential of new wands, armor, weapons, and artifacts
  • Investigation - You could follow footprints and discover clues to a crime
  • Translation - You could read foreign texts

Weapon Buff and Debuff Slots

Can grant powers and offensive spells.

  • Buff: Babbled - a ranged projectile fired from this weapon will cause a struck enemy to speak in gibberish
  • Buff: Air Mail - a body (living or dead) struck by a projectile from this weapon will appear to spring to life and speak in your voice. If the body is deceased, it cannot move or fight; it inherits your persuasion skill; this connection ends if the body is attacked or you end it; enemies cannot be fooled into attacking an ally via this trick twice

Armor Buff and Debuff Slots

Can grant immunities or defensive spells.

  • Buff: Stonefaced - when motionless, you will appear as if you were a stone statue
  • Buff: Bark then Bite - when motionless, you will appear as if you were made of tree bark
  • Buff: Loquacious - you can hear and understand languages you don't know, but not respond

Example Combinations

By themselves, the power of magical affinities can be used for smaller attacks and effects. However, by combining multiple affinities during an invocation you can create very interesting ways to solve a problem or defeat a foe. It's important to know that the following examples are in no way intended to limit the wide variety of combinations you can create, they are simply examples. Consult with your game master to see if two affinities can work together in the way you intend.
