One of the magical affinities that are used by characters bearing wands and magical weapons is the action affinity called "web". The web affinity allows for the production of silk, which can then be utilized the same way it is used by spiders.
Overview
You can use your imagination and knowledge of science to invent new and interesting ways that "web" may work, but for the most part you can break down this affinity into the following uses:
- Stickiness - You could create patches of sticky goo that will slow enemies or aid in climbing
- Immobilization - You could lash an enemy to the ground, column, or other such object
- Weaving - You could create fabric or braid rope
- Gliding - You could create wings, membranes, or a parachute to safely descend from a high place
- Guidelines - You can leave behind a line that lets you enter and exit a maze safely
- Alarms - You can leave a trip line behind to make sure no one is following you
Weapon Buffs and Debuffs
When used in a weapon, web can slow foes in both melee and ranged combat.
- Buff: Climbing - this melee weapon can be used to grapple small walls and cliffs
- Buff: Returnable - allows the user to pull back a thrown weapon after it does damage
- Buff: Sentry - allows a character to fire a projectile into a wall that will alert him or her to nearby enemies
- Debuff: Slow Attacks - forces all combat actions to be major combat actions
Armor Buffs and Debuffs
When used in a armor, web can dampen noise and increase your awareness of your immediate surroundings.
- Buff: Padded - enemies use one less hit die when determining damage
- Buff: Silent Motion - increases success chance when in stealth
- Buff: Backstab Immunity - can't take extra damage from behind or from invisible targets
Example Combinations
By themselves, the power of magical affinities can be used for smaller attacks and effects. However, by combining multiple affinities during an invocation you can create very interesting ways to solve a problem or defeat a foe. It's important to know that the following examples are in no way intended to limit the wide variety of combinations you can create, they are simply examples. Consult with your game master to see if two affinities can work together in the way you intend.
- plus "Air" - Web full of air could weave glider membranes under your arms while air full of web could create a balloon
- plus "Earth" - Web full of earth could create a slingshot companion while earth full of web could create a ghillie suit
- plus "Electricity" - Web full of electricity could create a protective cage against electrocution while electricity full of web could prolong the shocking effects of lightning
- plus "Fire" - Web full of fire could create a sticky tar ball while fire full of web could create a personal warming patch for cold weather climates
- plus "Water" - Web full of water could stick to and drain enemies of HP while water full of web could create a swarm of mist-dispersing insects
- plus "Athletics" - Web full of athletics could create a rod to hold to maintain balance while crossing a ravine while athletics full of web could tie up a flying enemy
- plus "Blaspheme" - Web full of blaspheme could create an alarm wire that notifies you even when you're hundreds of feet away while blaspheme full of web could silence a chatty NPC
- plus "Blood" - Web full of blood could create a protective bowl to mix chemicals while blood full of web could create a healing patch
- plus "Demand" - Web full of demand could create a tow rope while demand full of web could create a mental leash so NPCs under your spell don't stray too far away
- plus "Obedience" - Web full of obedience could stop a creature from flying while obedience full of web could herd a flock of birds together
- plus "Revelation" - Web full of revelation could create a cloak of invisibility while revelation full of web could seal a dangerous grimoire

- plus "Web" - you cannot combine an affinity with itself
